Problem with conventional resources • What Is the Problem? • Many young adults & college studentstravel • They have to trek through a large number of cities in a short period of time. • They usually have limited budget. • What’s Their Primary Resource? • Tour books, like Let’s Go Europe & Lonely Planet. • Nottailored to their interests & budget. • Notup-to-date.

  9. ETA User Interface Evolution (Low-Fi) Low-Fi Prototype • Two lines of Toolbars: • Confused all testers • Wordings in Menu • Not clear what is under Tools, ToDo’s, & Options • Starting Point of ETA • Forced users to create a profile before using any functions

  10. ETA User Interface Evolution (Hi-Fi) Hi-Fi Prototype I • Simplified Toolbar • More Intuitive Starting Point of the Application • Use of Icon for Easy Recognition for Novice Users • Home Button on each Page BUT,Some users still complained!!

What does ETA do? • Get traveler’s Information through a series of Questions • Provide Suggestions based on traveler’s Profile • Provide browsing and querying capabilities on hyperlinked informational hierarchy What does not work? • Forward/Back Button • Getting directions using map • Help functions

Let’s Go Europe & Lonely Planet.) • ETA provides personalized information with Profile • ETA provides fresh information with HotSync or Wireless • ETA can be interactive such as MAP function • HP Jornada is light and small enough to fit in your pocket unlike tour books
