Measure your stovetop to find two cutting boards that will completely cover the top of your stove. I've seen burner covers in other people's homes (presumably to keep people from burning themselves and also to keep their stoves looking pretty), but I knew that I wanted to make them for our stove u2014 and make them I enlisted our GMS engineers, Jeff and Corelyn, to build a raised cutting board that can be left on the stove (either two burners or all four) as a surface to prep recipes, chop vegetables, set up a photograph for the blog, or just to cover the always-hot burners (because of the pilot lights on our stove.) You can have additional cutting boards installed in your cabinets, if you have the room and the budget.<br><br>

Noodle Board Noodle boards are a traditional way people would make noodles, but today, we use them as stove toppers to cover up that mess left behind by cooking and keeps extra food from dropping onto your cook-top. The noodle board sat on top of the stove and once the pasta dough was made and cut to size, the noodles would be laid on the noodle board to dry out. As an adult, you think in more detailed terms: Christmas is the time to free the holiday china and linens from storage, summer means dusting off the swimsuits and pool noodles for yet another fun time in the water, and spring indicates the time to clear the garden of winter's weeds and plant new flowers to enjoy. Obviously, if you are using a noodle board or stovetop cover for things like making pasta or pie dough, you'll want to use a hardwood like maple, but you'll also want to use a food safe finish on the wood.
