  3. Selected for the Pilot Test for 6th Grade ELA and 5th Grade Math • Small School of 300 students • Average computer lad with 32 students computers + 1 teacher station Hemlock Elementary School

  4. Students should take the practice test several times. (whole group and individually) • Allow students to practice the different design of the test. • Take your time to so over the symbols and commands • Use your computer lab times wisely: Keyboarding, writing, allow familiarity with computers • Calculators • Questions build upon each other. Some are broken down into parts. Envision math does allow students to practice math concepts in this way. Preparation: Students

Teachers and Administrators • attend webinars • read manuals and handbooks • attend practice test sessions with the students • Prepare information cards for students (login and SS#) • Purchase headphones and check computers prior • Monitor progress, pause for breaks • District: • Tech department enter information into TIDE • Teach people on site during the test • Someone at central office who is expert (go-to person) • It is recommended that there be district teams of people that are knowledgeable pare information cards for students. Preparation: Adults

Students wrote in both ELA and math tests • Writing on computers to express their thoughts • Requires information writing • Explain their thinking • Answer a series of questions in complete sentences • Writing to show proficiency • Highlight phrases to cite evidence in text • Find text to support… • Teach how to say what you want in a short, succinct manner Importance of writing
