  1. WELCOME!

  2. Wellbeing Services at the Wilson OPEN MEETING

  3. Introductions – Why Us? • Khadiru Mahdi, MVSC • Diana Sterck, Merton Chamber of Commerce • Sue Tappenden, on behalf of Merton CCG • Dr Mike Robinson, Public Health (An informal Executive, sanctioned by Director of Public Health and Lead Director for the Wilson at the CCG)

  4. Goals for today’s meeting • Update since last open meeting in November 2018 • Describe purpose of proposed Steering Group • Elicit views on selection criteria for members and recruitment process (group work) • Agree next steps

  5. Latest position • As you may be aware, the CCG is in discussions with the site’s developers over a national issue related to the risk of an interest rate rise; • Discussions to secure funding to build the campus are progressing well and partners leading the programme aim to make a positive announcement as soon as possible; • We still anticipate the new facilities will open on the Wilson site by the end of 2022; • All partners remain fully committed to the programme – and we’re clear we don’t have to wait for a new building to make changes. That’s why we’re developing new wellbeing services so people will be able to access them in other places in the area before the building is complete.

  6. What’s changed since November • Clear steer in November to avoid competition for funding; • At this point, no clear asset base for any community organisation – precarious re funding; • The size/nature of community café isn’t confirmed; • Still many unknown factors that may affect the “type” of community organisation that will be the most appropriate; • Focus needs to be on realising the vision for and functions of the wellbeing elements of Wilson services, not the form of the community organisation.

  7. Any questions on presentation so far?

  8. The definition of "wellbeing" (Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs 2010) ”..individuals have a sense of purpose, that they feel able to achieve important personal goals and participate in society. It is enhanced by conditions that include supportive personal relationships, strong and inclusive communities, good health, financial and personal security, rewarding employment, and a healthy and attractive environment."

  9. Proposed Steering Group • Accountable to the Wilson Programme Board through the Director of Public Health AND to the local community through own organisations/networks • 5 to 10 members • Responsible for developing a Business Case for consideration by the CCG and Local Authority • 2 phases (next slide)

  10. Two Phases to Business Planning Phase 1: Now until new building opening (2022) • Potential Community use of empty space before and during construction phase – rooms and land • There is variety of void space from a gym to consulting rooms to offices = scope to cover most requirements. Phase 2: Part of new build (2022 onwards) • Wellbeing complements health care delivery • Hub and spoke for whole of East Merton

  14. Specific questions: recruitment process • Self nomination or initiation to apply with closing date? • Is there a community member who could join informal executive to make selection decision? • How is the leader of the Steering Group to be chosen?
