  2. The pen is mightier than sword. • What rhetorical device is used? • Metonymy: A figure of speech that has to do with the substitution of the name of one thing for that of another.

  3. Examples • The Wall Street is in a panic. Buckingham Palace issued a statement this morning. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you. The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world. He took to the bottle. Soapy stood still with his hands in his and smile at the sight of brass buttons. Let’s not let Thailand become another Vietnam.
