  1. Home – School Activities at Park View Primary

  2. Almost all parents and pupils were in favour of Homework. • Staff viewed it as an important part of learning as it helped pupils to revise and consolidate learning. • Many parents felt that it gave them an important insight into what their child was learning in school.

  3. The main issues which caused concern for parents were the amount of time spent on Homework and not having enough notice to complete tasks. • Staff wanted to ensure consistency and reduce the time spent on administration. • The need for consistency of approach was acknowledged by many.

  4. There will be now be 3 tasks for Literacy and 3 for Numeracy to be completed by Thursday morning. • A suggested time allocation per evening will be included. • There will be a mixture of written, practical and oral tasks.

  5. . • Thursday's task will be a ' Talking Task'. It will be the same for the whole school. • A fortnightly list of optional Home-School activities will be included for those who wish to do more homework. • These will be completed in a separate jotter.

  6. The optional activities will be the focus for the Homework and Hot Chocolate Club on Thu 3-4pm starting October 1st. • These will be the same for the whole school to allow siblings or friends to work together.

  7. The same sheet will now be used by the whole school. • The Homework for the whole class will be included, but each child will tick the tasks applicable for his/her group. • Older pupils will write their tasks to help them to become more independent in preparation for secondary school.

  8. A self evaluation and parent comment section will be included. • The optional activities and the 'Talking Task' will be on the website for parents and pupils to refer to. • The sheet will include reminders about class or school events as applicable.
