Outdoor Pursuits Course for Young People in Scotland

An introduction to outdoor pursuits in a safe environment, offering education outside the classroom and opportunities to develop inner confidence, personal achievement, self-esteem, social skills, and team-building skills. Participants will experience new and exciting outdoor activities while learning respect for others. The course is run by experienced staff and includes comfortable accommodation and a nutritious food menu. All activities are risk-assessed and covered by insurance.

  4. Manor Adventure - Accommodation • Bedrooms with en suite facilities for all pupils • Teachers’ rooms adjacent to students’ rooms • Lockerbie Duty Instructor (24 hours) • School stays together: eat, sleep and outdoor pursuits • Common rooms / areas downstairs in the house and in the grounds

Outdoor Pursuits Programme • 07.30 – Rise and Shine (latest!) • 08.00 – Breakfast • 09.00 – 10.30 Outdoor Pursuit Session 1 • 10.30 – 10.50 Break Time • 10.50 – 12.20 Outdoor Pursuit Session 2 • 12.20 – 13.40 Lunch Time • 13.40 – 15.10 Outdoor Pursuit Session 3 • 15.10 – 15.30 Break Time • 15.30 – 17.00 Outdoor Pursuit Session 4 • 17.15 – 19.00 Evening Meal/ Free Time • 19.00 – 20.30 Outdoor Pursuit Session 5 • 21.30 – Lights Out

Health & Safety and Insurance ●Adventure Activities Licensing Service License ● Regularly inspected by Health & Safety Executive ● Conform to all Governing Body Guidelines ● Each outdoor pursuit risk assessed ● 4X4 rescue vehicle ● Radio linked outdoor pursuits ● Outdoor pursuits, equipment and fully trained instructors continually assessed and monitored • Covered by East Renfrewshire’s Insurance Policy • Full details available from Council’s Insurance Officer
