Stages of Standard Development • Project Authorization (PAR) • Anticipate approval in July 2003 • Ideas, Procedures and Models • This is where we are today • Selection Stage • Execution of selection procedure (doc. 11-03-665r9) • First Draft Approved and Forwarded to WG Ballot • Required support of 75% of members • Forward to Sponsor Ballot • Draft, having been polished via WG balloting, is forwarded to Sponsor Balloting pool • Sponsor Ballot pool is group of voters formed by the IEEE Standards Organization • Final Approval • Achieve when draft passes sponsor balloting, comments have been properly processed and the IEEE Standards Board approves the amendment Matthew B. Selection Procedure First 6 steps of Selection Procedure: • TGn shall adopt Usage Models for the IEEE 802.11n amendment. • TGn shall adopt Channel Models that may be used for evaluation of proposals. • TGn shall adopt Functional Requirements that must be met by all complete proposals. • TGn shall adopt Comparison Criteria that must be addressed by all proposals. • TGn shall issue a call for proposals. Objectives for the Week • Adopt channel models • Adopt functional requirements • Adopt comparison criteria • Issue a Call for Proposals • Item 1 is the responsibility of the Channel Model Special Committee • Colin Lanzl, Pro tem Chairperson • Items 2-3 are the responsibility of the FRCC Special Committee • Adrian Stephens, Pro tem Chairperson • A call was made by the 802.11n chair to multiple individuals for a volunteer to draft the Call for Proposals • John Terry, former 802.11g Vice Chairperson, responded and will present draft and straw polls to TGn Matthew B. Shoemake, TGn Chairperson

  5. Schedule • The 802.11n schedule is in document 11-03-488 • The schedule will be updated after the straw polls on timeline are held following the presentation of the draft Call for Proposals Matthew B. Shoemake, TGn Chairperson
