The Power of Assets to Protect Against Risk-Taking Behaviors The 24 risk-taking behaviors are: alcohol use, tobacco use, inhalants, illicit drugs, drinking and driving, riding with a driver who has been drinking, sexual intercourse, shoplifting, vandalism, trouble with police, assault, use of weapon, group fighting, carrying weapon, threatening harm, skipping school, gambling, eating disorders, depression and attempted suicide.

Kodiak Plan – An Ongoing Process and Growth Model in Action Aim: High Student Achievement Goal: Implement and support educational programs and processes that ensure all students are proficient or beyond in reading, writing, math and science. Aim: Ensure a High Performing Workforce and a High Performing Work Environment Goal: Develop and implement a comprehensive staff development plan based on best practices to ensure accountability and high performance for all staff and students. Aim: Ensure Efficient and Effective Communication Goal: Improve communication with parents, staff, students and community for the purpose of increasing successes and decreasing failures in instruction, personnel, finance and operations, and community support.

Kodiak Math Weekly: Student Totals Students have two questions from each math content standard. Questions are randomly chosen from specific end of year grade-level expectations. The teacher and the students are measuring and analyzing the growth or lack of growth that has taken place from week to week.
KIBSD 1st Grade Oral Reading Fluency Benchmark goal for all students: 40 correct words per minute at the end of First Grade. Students scoring 20 or more in the middle of First Grade are likely to achieve the benchmark goal with effective instruction.
