When God Does Something New 12/7/08
Isaiah 43:14 • As for Babylonians and Chaldeans • They were the oppressor, the refiner • God promises to bring them down • Will even tear down that which they perceive to be there strength
Isaiah 43:15-17 • I will overcome the largest hurdles • In battle, the water was a natural obstacle • Unless the sovereign I AM peals it back (Ex 14) • Chariots and horses were the strength of a military • But God can make them lie down
Isaiah 43:18-19 Do not remember, and BEHOLD!
Don’t consider the things of old • I’m doing a new thing! • It’s going to SPRING FORTH • Shall you not know it (remember this phrase) • I’m going to modify the landscape • A road in the wilderness? What does it take • Rivers in the desert? What does that take?
Let’s see how they did • Moses – Ex 3:10-11 • Joshua – Jos 6:2-5 • Jonah – Jonah 1:1
You may wonder, Why aren’t we talking about the Christmas story?
Let’s see how a few more did? • Luke 1:5-20 • Remember that prior slide? Shall you not know it? • The honor of incense burning • The doubt in Zacharius’ mind • His doubt did not change God’s plan
What about Mary? • Luke 1:26-38 • But didn’t she doubt too? (vs 34) • Zacharius questioned how he could know? He questioned the message • Mary questioned how He would? She was questioning the mechanics
Bring it back home • We live in a world of Babylonians • 4% of this generation are believers • Man has forsaken morals for money • People question how much worse it could get • We wonder where the morality of the past has gone • We see the continued decay of society
Let’s remember Isaiah 43 • Don’t consider the things of old • I’m doing a new thing • It’s going to SPRING FORTH • Shall you not know it • Saints, how long will we live in yesterday?
What does tomorrow look like? • The season demonstrates a new birth • What will be born in this season?
