Plan • a. decide what your thesis statement will be • b. then come up with three ways you will prove it • c. for those three come up with other proof

Proofread your rough draft • a. check that it answers the prompt • b. check that it has enough examples • c. check for basic capitalization, spelling, punctuation • 5. Rewrite the essay in the booklet • WRITE LEGIBLY • 6. Proofread it again! Use the checklist that is provided. • Expect this to take a while. Your high school diploma depends on this - do not take it casually.
Common Sense • Get a good night’s sleep the night before • Eat breakfast that morning. • Bring a bottle of water with you and some mint gum or candies • Research has shown that mint acts as a brain stimulant, helping you think and stay awake. • Remember- cell phones will be turned off! Do not argue with any adult about this. Just do it. • Bring a book for afterwards. You may finish earlier than the allotted time; you will not be allowed to leave, but you can read, just read, no schoolwork.
