Objective To support African decision-makers and planners in designing and implementing national, regional and continental policies and development plans towards sustainable development thereby advancing the socio-economic progress and well-being of African populations towards achievement of the MDGs Essence : Increase information capacity of African regional and national institutions

Expected Results (1) R[1.] Improved and sustainable access by African stakeholders to EO data and information at continental, regional and national levels • Infrastructure: installation, upgrading, repair • Enabling environment: relevant policies; and agreements and licences with data providers (e.g. European/African ones) R[2.] Improved EO data and information services that contribute to better decision-making and planning at continental, regional and national levels • New and improved services for THEMA established (e.g. climate services, forest information, etc.) R[3.]Promote cross-fertilisation (geographically & thematically) among regions on the African continent and with European partners, and pursue the continentalization of services

Expected Results (2) [R4.] Strengthen political and policy development frameworks for use of EO to ensure an active and sustainable participation of African stakeholders in initiatives concerning EO for environment and security [R5.] Capacity development and training of African stakeholders at continental, regional and national levels

Collaboration Opportunity • Access to Disaster Charter and subsequent Activation by each MESA SADC Participating MS. • Required would be required during implementation of MESA New Flood Service is foreseen . • Model Pre-flooding Condition • During flood • and Post Flooding. • MESA is interested to have Access to Disaster Character for each country for the purpose of activation of the charter in an event of Flooding. • Working with EUMETSAT in AMESD brought Disaster Charter to MESA for possible collaboration.
