  1. What is a Ductable AC System?

  2. A Ductable air conditioner is a split air conditioner that uses circular, oval, or rectangular ductwork to distribute conditioned air from the indoor unit into the room. Ducting is made from galvanized steel, pre-insulated boards, or cloth. A Ductable air conditioner is typically put above or outside the conditioned room. Return air is drawn from the room and sent back to the air conditioner. What is Ductable AC?

  3. The Advantages of Installing Ductable AC Systems A well-designed duct system will deliver cooling (and heating) across an office or home by distributing air to various spaces based on their size and use.

  4. Filtering this air and the option to introduce fresh(outside) air to all spaces via the duct system are two additional features. You can also isolate mechanical noise from occupied rooms, and airflow noise is typically quite low in occupied places. 4

  5. A more advanced system could include fresh air controls based on indoor air quality sensors. With the addition of zone control dampers and a reheat source, each zone can have its temperature settings that are independent of the temperature provided by the central air handler.

  6. Ductable air conditioning systems allow for unique airflow modifications converting cooling to the heating season. These airflow modifications are also utilized to address comfort issues from occupants who want more or less cooling (or heating) than the average individual.
