Book Promotion • Part of your role as student librarians is to promote books. We promote books in multiple ways: • Organizing books • Sorting and displaying books by genre • Placing books on BOOK STANDS • Creating new book DISPLAYS
Book Talks & Book Folders • Another way we promote books is through book talks. • However, at a book talk, someone frequently snags the book which leaves the others to wait. Book folders help students remember the books they are interested in reading. • Book Folders give students a way to read independently about books or a series. • They also provide something tangible (beyond a talk) to help them recall which books they might consider reading.

If you’ve read the book, it’s awesome if you can find an exciting passage or page of text. We can photocopy this from the book or sometimes you can find a powerful page online.
Tips and Reminders Procedure Making the Folder Choose a file folder in a color that compliments the cover. Use glue sticks or tape or double stick tape to adhere corners. Remember: Ultimately, your folder will be laminated to hold everything in place and extend the life of your folder. Try to make it visual, graphically pleasing, and professional quality. • Choose a book that isn’t already well-known and super popular. • Open a Word document or Google Doc to copy/paste text or images • Send text or images to the Brother Color Printer • You may use the paper trimmer IF YOU PROMISE NOT TO CUT OFF A FINGER
