  1. Advantages of 3d printing and prototyping 3d printing and prototyping, also called additive manufacturing, is now popular amongst manufacturers. The need is constantly growing owing to the revolutionary advantages that it can offer. Like nearly all technologies, 3d printing has its disadvantages too. The production process provides a variety of benefits when compared to conventional manufacturing methods. Flexible design It facilitates the print and design of complex designs than conventional manufacturing processes. More conventional processes have design limitations that no longer are relevant when you use 3d printing. Rapid prototyping You can use 3d printing to manufacture parts within a few hours, which helps speed up the entire prototyping procedure. This enables you to complete every stage quickly. Compared to machining prototypes, this is cheap and faster at crafting parts, allowing for every design modification to be done at a good efficient rate. Print on demand This is yet another benefit of 3d printing and prototyping as it doesn’t require more space to store inventory, unlike conventional manufacturing processes. This helps save cost and space since there is no requirement to print anything in bulk unless it is absolutely necessary. The design files are saved in your virtual library as they get printed using a 3D model as an STL or CAD file. You can easily locate and print them whenever necessary. Design edits can be easily made at low costs by editing separate files without wasting any inventory and having to invest in tools. Lightweight and strong parts The major 3d printing material that is utilized in the printing process is plastic, though certain metals can be utilized as well. But, plastics tend to provide more benefits since they are lighter than their counterparts. This is significant in industries like aerospace and automotive, wherein light-weighting is often an issue.

  2. Verdict Depending on the complexity and design of a part, 3d printing and prototyping can help print objects quickly. It's not just the manufacturing of the parts that can save time but also that the design procedure can be instantaneous by creating CAD or STL files ready for print.
