Working Backwards Task Faraday’s Law

Explore Faraday's Law through a top view animation showing wires and a galvanometer in the lab. Observe current flow and meter readings as a magnet is pushed through. Determine which pole enters the loop first. Engage in interactive clicker activities.

  1. Working Backwards Task Faraday’s Law Clicker Activities

  2. The animation shows a top view of four wires and a galvanometer in the lab.  Current flowing into the + terminal, i.e., counterclockwise, will deflect the meter to the right.   During the time interval t=2 s to t=8 s a magnet is slowly pushed completely through  the rectangle from the bottom toward the top. Observe the meter reading during this simulation.

  3. Answer the following on your own

  4. Which pole of the magnet was put through the loop first? • N • S • It cannot be determined

  5. Consult with your neighbor and answer again.

  6. Which pole of the magnet was put through the loop first? • N • S • It cannot be determined
