Where did Football originate from? According to FIFA (FédérationInternationale de Football Association), the oldest evident trace of football was used as a military exercise in China during the second and third century B.C.
Who made up the first organized set of rules for Football? Why did they do this? It was at Cambridge University in 1848 when H. de Winton and J.C Thring contributed to form first set of football rules called the Cambridge Rules, linked with today’s modern game play it has helped the development of the rules with Football Association. It think they probably made up the rules so that it would first of all be fair so everyone would have an equal chance of wining and people would not cheat. They also made the rules to achieve goal kicks, throw-ins, and forward passes. Finally the rules also enabled competition between clubs therefore making it more popular at the time.
How many countries play Football as their national sport? There are 208 nations playing football as their national sport. The recent winner of the 2010 FIFA world cup is Spain and the next world cup is to be held at Brazil on 2014. Hopefully Qatar will host a fascinating 2022 World cup.
Why do you think Football has become so popular around the world? Firstly, I am sure that it is very amusing to play a match if you are a goalkeeper, a defender, a midfielder, or a striker as you always have a chance to prove your ability and Performance. Secondly, you do not need eleven players but you can easily play with your brother without getting injured very easily and if you decide to play with your friends you really just need a ball. Finally it is also the way that the youth is now being risen. Thus acquiring new talent and ability is seen all over the world and followed by others.
Do you think there are different ways of playing, or styles, of Football in different areas around the world? I think that it does not matter where you are, someone can always experiment new tricks and ways of dribbling past players, or someone can try someone's else's tricks and dribbles, but it is whether they are willing to unlock their potential. Hence I agree that there could be different styles of playing but the concept and the game- Play remain the same.
