This study examines the impact of uncertainty on neutrino interaction cross-section on the number of neutrino observations at INGRID. The method involves applying a constant uncertainty on the cross-section and analyzing the effect on the number of observations. The results show the difference in observations and suggest further investigation.

Motivation • Check the difference of # of neutrino observations at INGRID by uncertainty on neutrino interaction cross-section. • The method to consider neutrino interaction cross-section is simple : put constant uncertainty on cross-section.
Data set • Jnubeam 10ab : 1000 file • Horn setting : 250kA & 250kA • NEUT (ver ?) : 80 interaction/file × 1000 file • including : numu, numubar, nue, nuebar interaction. • INGRID MC • Calc # of observation at each module, at each neutrino interaction mode. • only horizontal modules in this study. • There is no MC sample of vertical modules at numubar, nue, nuebar.

Effect of uncertainty from cross-section • 例えば、CCQE Cross-section + 10% → N^int_CCQE × 1.1 • Efficiency の誤差は考慮しない(Cross-sectionの不定性に比べて小さい)。 • N^int_ALL → N^int_CCQE×1.1+N^int_nonCCQE = N^int_ALL + N^int_CCQE×0.1 • N^obs_ALL → N^int_ALL × Eff_ALL + N^int_CCQE×0.1 × Eff_CCQE = N^obs_ALL + N^obs_CCQE×0.1 (Efficiency=constant) • N^int_CCQE × 1.1 ⇔ N^obs_CCQE Put constant uncertainty on each neutrino cross-section ex) CCQE + 10% → # of observation(CCQE) = 6941 × 1.1 = 7635 → # of observation(ALL) = 7635+5378+4590+1113 = 18716 → Diff. observation from orig. = (18716/18022 - 1)×100 = 3.8 %
Result (250kA, horizontals) • Original # of observation : 0.784 • including numu, numubar,nue,nuebar MC sample • Normalized by 10^14 pot
Summary • 今回、各ニュートリノ反応の断面積を定数倍した際に、INGRIDでの検出数がどの程度変化するかを見積もった。 • 水平モジュールを扱った。垂直モジュールとの違いはフラックスの差だけとすると、INGRID全体でも同程度の割合で変化 → 要チェック。
Next Step • Prepare MC sample of vertical modules at numubar, nue, nuebar. • Need MC sample of numubar, nue, nuebar. • Need more statistics. • Jnubeam のエントリーを全て使うように(要相談) • Check change of beam profile (beam center, beam size) by each uncertainty on cross-section. • 陽子ビームをターゲット中心からずらした MC sample も利用。 • Compare each basic plot (# of active plane, etc) when put each uncertainty on cross-section.
