Presentation The meaning of CMOS : CMOS means Complementary Metal Oxyde Semicomponent. This strange name is used to designe a small electronical component : a transistor. CMOS ( & TTL ) are Logic transistors (gates), wich mean they have 2 levels : logic 0 & logic 1. As you will see on the pictures, the transistor is pretty small and is easy to understand. The use of the CMOS transistor will be explained on chapter 2°
What is it used for ? Logic transistors are used to perform logic operations. For example, you have an operation called « and », an other one called « or ». Look at the board for explanations and ASK IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND !!!!! Logic transistors are used in many conditions so many types of Transistors have been invented. CMOS technologie is recent and has many advantages that will be explained. Before going further, ASK IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS !!!
Different types of transistors& differences with TTL - Serie 4000 - Serie HC & HCT : Hight ( speed ) CMOS - Serie AC & ACT : Advanced CMOS • Serie LV, LVC, LVT, ALVT : Low Voltage CMOS ( & Advanced Low Voltage ) Look on the board for the different characteristics of each «family » of transistor.
