1. Background information; Nuclear Legislation Nov. 1954 established Thai Atomic Energy Commission. Apr. 1961 Atomic Energy for Peace Act was enacted and the OAEP was established (present was rename as OAP) Thai AEC comprise of 17 members from representativefromministry/organization concerned,chaired by Prime MinisterSecretary General of OAP is secretary to Thai AEC
1. Background informationThe Main responsibilities of the Commission (Thai AEC) * Regulatory roles pursuant to the Atomic Energy for Peace Act (define policy on utilization of nuclear energy, set up standards, lay down rules for control and implementation of activities subject to licensing, etc.);
* Advise and submit recommendation on nuclear safety measure to Government; * Promoting the dissemination of knowledge relating to atomic energy.
1. Background information; Nuclear Legislation 1961, 1965, 1968, 1973 and 1974The Act was amended and Ministerial Regulations were periodically issued. Min.Reg. 2: licensing of radioisotopes/nuclear materials and radiation protection. Min.Reg. 4: licensing of X-ray machine.

Background informationPresent situation of nuclearprogram Existing research reactor has been licensed by the Commission (before establishment of regulatory gruop). Presently, the applicant for reactor operation licence has to submit the application form together with SAR to NFSS through the BNSR. Licence will be issued by the Commission upon recommendation of the NFSS.

4. Conclusion Nuclear program started in 1954. Only one research reactor is being operated. No clear policy on nuclear power plant program. Nuclear knowledge is limited. Training is provided to serve in specific areas but not much in nuclear safety.
4. Conclusion Special program such as Youth Nuclear Camp is very effective tool for nuclear knowledge dissemination.
