Initially, in 1873 to 1989, the cruise operated under a Dutch Shipping Line, as a passenger and cargo line sailing across the Netherlands and North America. In those years the cruise line had played a major role in transporting thousands of emigrants between the two countries. In 1989, Carnival shop acquired Holland America, thereby operating its services under America. The program-Signature of Excellence was launched in 2003, a program to upgrade the existing ships. The program upgraded the ships with specialty restaurants like-Pinnacle Grill, suite guests’ like- the Neptune Lounge, Culinary Arts Center, store-room facilities, kid zones and improved dining centers.
