No. No freaking way. • -Lock it up tighter than the lid on a pickle jar. • This is not a professional resource. This is a fun thing. You can get yourself into big trouble trying to mix the two.
Twitter isn’t just about what you ate for lunch or how your broken toe is doing. • -Twitter can connect you with conductors, colleagues, and orchestras! • Twitter is a sharing site! • -Photos • -Links • Add twitter to your homepage • Even if you’re just traveling, tweet a picture and a short message about why you’re there and that you’re having fun or that you’re meeting someone interesting. • You can connect with your idols on twitter.

Read it. • Bloggers are some of the first folks to know about new technology, industry news, and up-and-coming musicians. • They write about contests, vacancies in orchestras, instrument repair experts • Find one in your new city! You will learn the ins and outs before you can find your way to the grocery store and back. • You’ll do yourself the favor being educated about your field. • Dumb Friend: “Gosh! Did you hear about Alex Klein? He had some kind of scary hand problem! Ok, but, do I just post a video or whatever? • Nope! • Here are some helpful hints to get hits on YouTube. Title Matters: -Don’t say, “Me playing the violin.” -Instead: “I SET MY VIOLIN ON FIRE!” -Instead: “Bach A-minor Violin Concerto” Description: -Describe what you’re doing in an interesting way. It’s boring not to have a description. Half the time (yes, 50%), that’s what loses views. The power of keywords: -Violin, fire, playing, string, bow, awesome, amazing, technique. -You can utilize Google Adwords or Google Suggest to help! Clarity: -Make the video clear. Grainy video is so 1999. Add &fmt=18 at the end of any video to make it clearer. Length: -Don’t put a five minute video of yourself talking about what you’re going to play and then play for 17 minutes. Instead, within three seconds, begin playing.
