Introduction • ICT provides library users with a vast array of services and products. • It has removed the time and space barriers and helped to promote the open access in the libraries • ICT had a great impact on the way users seek information, their preference of e-resources over printed documents. • Technologies such as email and Web provide tremendous opportunities for library & Information Scientists to deliver the information to the desktops of users.
Need • ICT has become much faster and more accessible to common man and it has a greater impact on the way users seek information. The present study is carried out in order to analyze the extent of use of ICT services by research scholars and faculty of MANUU.
Scope • The study is limited to faculty members (Professors, Associate Professors, and Assistant Professors) and research scholars of Maulana Azad National Urdu University. In the present study a total of 300 questionnaires were distributed among the faculty members and students, out of which 275 responses were received. The collected data is organized into tables.
Objectives • To explore the utilization of Information Communication Technologies • To analyze the level of use of ICT services. • To find out the purpose of use of ICT services. • To determine the impact of ICT on information needs of users. • To find out the problems faced by the users in using ICT services.

Findings: • The study reveals that respondents are using smart card for the library services. • Majority of the respondents visit the library daily. • The study indicates that there is adequate usage of e-journals and e-books • Users face problems in the downloading of documents due to slow speed.
Suggestions: • There should be uninterrupted power supply / generator backup for the computer systems so that the user’s concentration is not interrupted/disturbed. • The internet speed should be enhanced in order to better the library services. • Current awareness service to be made more effective. • Orientation/training classes to the new users in using library OPAC/ search engines, internet etc.
Conclusion: • ICT (Information and Communications Technology) is an umbrella term that encompasses any communication device or application, includes radio, television, cellular phones, computer and network hardware and software, satellite systems etc. as well as a variety of services and applications associated with them, such as videoconferencing and distance learning. • ICT developments have brought tremendous change in the outlook of society. In the past few decades, Information and Communication Technologies has provided society with a vast array of new communication capabilities and we are habituated to the ICT products and services.
