What is sulfur? • A non metallic element that can be in different forms, usually a yellow solid, burns in only blue flame, and suffocating odor. • It is found in proteins, amino acid cysteine, enzymes, and gives a distinctive order to many substances.
Sulfur cycle steps: • Sulfur is released into atmosphere as sulfur dioxide by volcanic eruptions, bacterial-by-product sea spray releases, human activity of burning fossil fuels. • dissolves in atmospheres to sulfuric acid • The sulfuric acid falls back to earth through rain in terrestrial & aquatic. • Sulfur falls to bottom of ocean and geological activity
In the process, acid precipitation can occur. hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu
