  3. Legislation • Building Regulations (England) • Competent Person Self Certification Scheme was introduced in 2002 (CPS) • The Department of Communities and Local Government are responsible for the CPS providers • Network VEKA became a CPS provider in 2010. This is known as “Assure”

  4. What Is It? • Minimum Technical Competence • Every window fitter and surveyor will need to prove a MTC • I.D. Card system • Continuous Professional Development

  5. When Will It Start ? • The new “Conditions of Authorisation” for CPS scheme operators came into force on 6th June 2012 • The CPS operators have two years to ensure all their members have achieved the MTC

  6. What’s Involved? • Knowledge of Building Regulations • Knowledge of British Standard (BS 8213-4) • Each fitter and surveyor will need to be audited at least once every three years • Evidence of CPD • Conducted as part of annual company audit

  7. Assure • Existing Survey and Installation training programme has been mapped and is more than adequate • On site assessment for each installer • Access to free NVQ qualifications • Card issued by GQA
