2. Women's roles before rights • To wash • To clean • To cook • To make babies • overall be a housewives

3. In the 1930's women were treated badly. They could not own anything. Fighting in a war was just out of the question. They were basically made to stay home and do the cleaning and cooking. They couldn't even buy anything. A woman in this day and time wouldn't take any of that for a minute, being that we are so independent and outspoken now. • In the 1930s, despite the fact that women were a big part of the society, they were not treated equally in the workplace compared to their male counterparts. Instead of working, most of society believed that a woman's place was in the home. It was during this era that women were put into the gender role of cooking, cleaning and taking care of children. • Pictures of women from the 1930s often show them dressed up despite the fact that they were homemakers. This was due to the strong belief during this time period that women still needed to look presentable for their husbands when they returned home from work. When their husbands came home, dinner was to be ready, the house was to be clean, and the husband was to be greeted by his loving wife. Women treated badly

4. Working before the 1930s • During the years of 1930’s, there was great pressure on everyone to bring in a good, consistent income. Woman found this a lot more difficult than men. In many places in society, woman was still thought to belong in the home. If they did try to get jobs, they’d normally be scorned for taking money and jobs away from men. Women who were in jobs would normally be pressured to give them up for ‘family men’. People said that if woman would give up their jobs then un-employment would be nearly eliminated. • Normally, any job that woman could get would be low level and low paying jobs, meaning that nearly all management jobs would be filled with men. At the time, 3 in 10 working woman were in domestic or personal service roles, such as cooks or maids.

5. Women's were not allowed to vote until the 1920s Then women had equal rights but not for every women , unfortunately women of colour were still discriminated . They looked for work as there was great pressure on everyone to bring in income doing this was difficult for women to do. Women were taking over some of the mans jobs and if they gave up there would not be any more unemployment. rights

6. Rich and Upper Class: She would probably not need to work and would focus on marriage and other things women were expected to focus on. Though the Depression may have affected her in some ways, she would still be well off. Women were treated still as inferior but they were gaining rights e.g. suffrage and other liberties. classes

7. Wealthy and Middle Class: She would probably need to work in an office job but as soon as she was married, she would be expected to quit her job. The Depression was likely to have affected her as she and her husband were likely to be unemployed. She would be treated as inferior to her husband but her greater economic power would have given more liberties than if she didn't have a job. Classes

8. Poor and Lower Class: She would try and find work in some ways but due to the Depression, it would be unlikely that she could hold a job. The Depression was likely to have devastated her family and her and her family would have to work hard to get anything they wanted. She would again be treated as inferior to her husband but both would have to work very hard classes
