  5. Modal split in the Budapest region • Population of Budapest decreases • Population in the suburbia increases • In the 90’s the number of the passengers to Budapest increased by 50% • Daily passengers from suburbs: 563.000 passenger/day/direction

Introduction of Budapest Combined Passes (Step 1) • Started in 01.09. 2005 • Since01.01.2006 introduction of annual Passes • Budapest Combined Passes valid on services of BKV, MÁV and VOLÁNBUSZ within the administrative boundary of Budapest • For commuters may be shorten the regional passes and tickets • Fare level reduction for passengers • Revenue loss for regional operators • Compensation paying obligation for competent authorities

Tasks of BTA public co. • Operation of BTA step 1 • Statistic of Budapest Combined tickets • Traffic survey • Marketing • Review of contract of the service providers • Compensation calculation • Phone call information and dealing with complains • Coordination between operators • Harmonisation of timetable and increase of level of service at connections • Preparation of next steps of BTA • R&D activities and analysis • Preparation of infrastructure developments aiming cooperation of operators • Elaborating integrated tariff system (level and structure) • proving BTA interest at external developments
