  1. Welcome to Miss Swenda’sEnglish Class! Please find a seat and begin to get the creative juices flowing! (That means begin working on the papers on your desk!)

  2. Classroom Procedures • When you get to class, go to the bathroom, sharpen pencils- do what you need to do to prepare for class and do it quickly! • There will be a journal starter on the board every day at the beginning of class. THEY WILL BE GRADED! • Homework will be checked/collected while you are doing journal entries

  3. Classroom Rules • Be PROMPT • Be PREPARED • Be POLITE • Be PATIENT • Be PRODUCTIVE • Be on time to class! • Make sure you have everything you need to be successful! • Disrespect in any form will NOT be tolerated! • Wait until directions are done being given BEFORE asking questions! • Always try your best and use the time you are given wisely!

  4. Classroom Rules Continued • There may be a bell, however I will dismiss you from class • There will be NO lining up at the door at the end of the class period- see previous rule! • There will be days you will be required to answer a question or turn in classwork as an “exit ticket”

  5. Classroom Rules Continued Classroom discussion is extremely encouraged! However, there are times where you will be asked to refrain from speaking out! • During a test • When another student is speaking • When I am speaking/giving directions

  6. Classroom Book Rules Each book in the classroom is MINE. I have bought every single one of them personally. You are more than welcome to borrow a book at any time for pleasure or for a project. You MUST sign each book out! If there are any unreturned books I will send emails/letters home asking for payment for the “lost” or damaged books.

  7. Quotes to Remember • "A true hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart.” – Hercules • "The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it.” –The Lion King • "You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” –Winnie the Pooh • "I never look back, darling. It distracts me from the now.” –The Incredibles
