  2. The Openreach offering • Full time, permanent roles across parts of the UK (NW, NE, Midlands, SE, Scotland, South Wales) • SLs successful at interview will complete a 5 week work attachment • On successful completion of the work attachment, SLs will be offered a full-time, permanent role • SLs will not be paid by Openreach for the 5 week work attachment • Ongoing training after the initial 5 week attachment to up-skill and enable SLs to work on other tasks in Openreach • 2

  3. The role • Openreach Mobile Engineer • Working on behalf of all Internet Service Providers (ISP) • Domestic and Business premises • Connecting telephony, broadband and super-fast broadband services • May also include connecting the premises to telegraph poles and cabinets – working at height and in confined spaces • Salary range is £20,626 - £25,782 • Starting salary to be confirmed at job offer stage and is dependant on previous skills and/or experience • All tools and equipment will be provided by Openreach • 3

  4. The work attachment • Graduated Resettlement Time (GRT) and/or Terminal Leave can be used to do the 5 week work attachment • SLs must liaise with their resettlement staff and complete the necessary JPA workflows or relevant paperwork • SLs must also obtain authority to be released from their unit • SLs who have left the services can still apply however, will still be required to undertake the 5 week unpaid work attachment before being offered a permanent role • SLs who have committed some or all of GRT can still apply and use Terminal Leave • There is no remuneration for the work attachment regardless if it is undertaken using GRT, Terminal Leave or if the SL has already left the Services • 4

  5. Essential criteria • A Fibre Optic or Telecoms qualification is desirable, but not necessary as full training will be given by Openreach • Applicants must be able to clearly demonstrate on their CV, experience or an aptitude for telecoms, electrics, electronics or other relevant engineering disciplines • As these are mobile positions, applicants must have a full driving licence with no more than 6 points on it • Be able to work at height and in confined spaces • Applicants must not be colour blind • 5

  6. Application process • Applicants need only apply for 1 location; preferably the one they live nearest to/intend to live near. CTP will contact applicants to discuss their application and will find out at this stage ability to work in other locations • SLs can only apply by using the relevant reference number through RightJob and using a targeted CV, demonstrating ability to do the role • If a SL cannot get onto RJ, they should contact the CET for assistance with accessing RJ (0121 236 0058) • Please do not direct Service leavers to any of the project team to apply. • 6

  7. Interview process • Will last up to 1 hour • SLs are likely to be asked about their knowledge of cabling/fibre optics, routers/modems, circuits/diagnostics and navigating around a computer/laptop, • If SLs do not already have this knowledge, they will need to research thoroughly prior to interview • Interviews will be competency-based - SLs need to give real-life examples to demonstrate skills and experience • Interviews are scheduled to take place during August and mid September – subject to change • We will endeavour to get interview packs to SLs via e-mail ASAP. If SLs have not received interview packs 1 week prior to interview they can email openreach@ctp.org.uk with the subject heading INTERVIEW DETAILS • 7

  8. Start dates • Likely to take up to 4 weeks after interview before candidates hear from Openreach • If the SL has not heard anything after 4 weeks, they can e-mail openreach@ctp.org.uk and the CTP will follow up with Openreach • Start dates for the work attachment are as soon as possible and no later than the end of October 2012 • Applicants who are not available to take up employment before 31st December (including the 5 week work attachment and terminal leave) need not apply • In essence, SLs can have a discharge date up to the end of December 2012 however, they must have completed the work attachment and begin working for Openreach on Terminal Leave. Work attachments and early release must be agreed via the appropriate MoD channels • 8
