  2. Time evolution of heat distribution in beryllium • Gaussian distribution, sigma=1cm • Temperature • Peak 1000 C • Default 300 C

  3. Beryllium parameters • COMSOL has a material model library • Parameters run with T during computation • They match standard values at T=300 K • Can be set to constants if desired

  4. The relaxation timescale is in seconds • This result would argue that the conductive heat transport timescale is much longer than the bunch structure timescale

  5. Next step • Attempt to replicate the ANL results for the post-target window • Due to an e-mail crash I need to get a copy of their talk • Comsol can model moving material • Simulate heat transport in the liquid metal target
