Introduction In today’s society, computer literacy and basic technical skills are essential, and educational institutions must ensure that students are equipped with those necessary skills. In addition, instructors must also be computer literate and possess basic technical skills necessary to communicate, prepare curricula, and complete state and federal reports. To equip instructors with technical skills, CV has devised the Pirate Sash Certification.
Objectives • Define Pirate White Sash Certification process • Identify major technical categories • List the specific technical skills per category • Recognize the CV Blackboard shell
Pirate White Sash Certification • Designed to prepare all instructors, both full-time and part-time, with the basic technical skills to enhance the learning experience in the classroom through the incorporation of technology. • Deliver training through face-to-face workshops as well as online Blackboard courses. • Divided into three basic categories: • Communication • Instructor Reporting • General Desktop Skills • Curriculum Delivery (Blackboard)

Blackboard Shell • All instructors will be provided with a basic CV Blackboard shell. This shell will include the following: • Basic theme/layout of screen for consistency of all CV courses • Syllabus • Instructor Contact Information • Student Code of Conduct • ADA Standards
