  10. Our goals • Provide a complete learning package for instructors and users • Have users take charge of and be responsible for their own learning • Move from isolated learning to problem based learning • Allow for differing learning preferences • Provide expert modeling in a fail safe framework • Provide and remove learning scaffolds • Trace use to improve use of Visible Human and Internet 2 resources

  11. Goals for the first quarter • Start definition of user requirements • Interview faculty • Interview students • Set up test beds • Collaborate with Application Group • Obtain first round of IRB approval • Review literature • Develop project PERT chart • Gather and test tools

  12. Sample Focus Sessions • Student Reaction • Instructor Interaction • Instructional Design Interaction • Motivation • Logistics • The “Blair Witch” Project style...

  13. Goals for the second quarter • Define user requirements • Develop collaboration with interface and application teams • Integrate literature review into rubric and initial user requirements • Continue focus group sessions of faculty and students • Develop rubric for data gathered from focus sessions • Gather and test tools

  14. User Requirement Rubric:

  15. Goals for the third quarter • Finish focus group sessions (Kinesiology, Radiation Oncology must wait till fall term) • Use User Requirement Rubric to determine target groups and crucial interface tools • Use user requirements to inform user interfaces • Provide initial specs for modules • Develop prototype navigation maps • Develop criteria for feed back development • Develop integrated data gathering from interfaces

  38. How to Use this Program… Modules Information and images in this program are organized into two modules under instructional themes, the systematical approach and the regional approach. When entering this program, you may choose and click on a system or a region to look at. Example: choose on the `Head and Neck’ region Meta - information for Navigation Anytime in a module, you may click on the buttons listed on the top of each page for getting meta-information. The meta- information will help you to navigate on this program and learn how to use this program for studying. • SITE MAP:Showing the structure of information presented in this program and how different pieces of information are conceptually interrelated. • Learn How to Learn: Learning tools and notes for anatomy study are accessible from this link. Currently available information and tools are outlines and quiz by chapter and medical term glossary.

  39. How to Use this Program…(cont.) Features within Modules Example: label and radio button • Images and Associated Instruction This program provides CT and MRI from the Visible Human. The images are also rendered into 3-D structure. While viewing images, you can click on LABEL and TEXT on the left side for labels and content information. Also, check on radio buttons on selected pages to add features. 5: Orbicularis palpebraum Check radio button for pronunciation pronunciation • VIDEO: Showing dissection procedure by Quick Time movies. • Dissection and Clinic Knowledge Buttons on the left side allows you to learn more about dissection skills and the application of anatomy in clinics and related field. • CLINIC:Showing medical and clinical information of selected region (or system)
