  2. Before Justinian • The western Roman Empire had fallen and the only Roman Empire left standing was the Byzantine. • The Byzantine empire had been battling for survival because of attacks from franks and Germanic people.

  3. Early Justinian • His parents were peasants. • The emperor Justin the 1 adopted him. • He co-ruled until 527 A.D.

  4. Starting-up Ruler • He started up with the byzantine reconquest. • These were a series of wars. • The ultimately failed because he lost all his money.

  5. Later Ruler • He married Theodora. • The Nika revolt happed. • The Nika Revolt was when revolvers attacked Constantinople.

  6. Corpus JurisCivils • It is more commonly called Justinian code. • It combined old laws into new laws so romans new what their rights were. • It is the base line for many laws today.
