No Kid Hungry Facts • Definition: • Hunger- Agonizing sense of discomfort triggered by the idea of needing food • 48.8 million United States citizens deal with the problem of malnutrition • 1/3 of our nation is suffering • Childhood malnutrition has a rate of 16.2 million • Minnesota is the ninth highest state for this issue • 45% of children five years and under will die of lack of food • Children die do to diseases they encounter from lack of food • Malaria • Pneumonia • Measles

Organizations & Childhood Hunger • Action Against Hunger • Organization that holds a world wide food donation service that puts its may focus on malnutrition in developed and undeveloped countries. • Food for the Hungry International • Organization that works with under developed regions to make sure that malnutrition is lessened increasing children persistence. • Hunger Plus, Inc. • Charitable organization that works to decrease malnutrition around the world by food programs etc.

Share Our Strength • Organization that specifically focuses on malnutrition in children around the world • Founded by Bill and Debbie Shore (1984) • First site of organization was in a basement near Capital Hill • The Shore’s got started due to a shortage of food in Ethiopia • No Kid Hungry was invented in 2008 • Share Our Strength has donated $380 million • Can type in www.nokidhungry.org to get more information
