Meet Elizabeth Johnson Shortly after graduation I moved to London, intending to stay for about six months but as things never go according to plan, I have been over here for nearly three years now. I work as a commodities analyst for a mining and metals consultancy called CRU Group, a relatively small London based company. Other than that, just travelling around Europe whenever I get the chance.

Elizabeth Johnson Meeting people and getting more involved in the business school. Too many memories to count, but attending the LEAD conference in Mesa was pretty memorable. As much as DSP really does help to prepare people for the “real world,” the friendships are really what stick with you the most after leaving MCB. Life after DSP is, once again, all about the relationships you build and the network it provides. When I was at UNC, the chapter’s interaction with the alumni was minimal.

Meet Ryan Russell Because of Delta Sigma Pi and Monfort I am now a Financial Advisor with the #2 "Best Company to Work For" ranked by Fortune Magazine.

Ryan Russell I heard about the business fraternity from a friend. I thought it would help my resume having something business-related to fill all the white space. Retreats, by far. Friendships that extend way beyond college years. I still stay in close contact with several brothers. Delta Sigma Pi allowed me to gain leadership and professional/social skills to maximize the opportunity afforded to me by the Monfort College of Business I would not have changed a thing about my experience with Delta Sigma Pi.

Meet Jason Chavez Along with being a new dad. I am a Factory Rep & Account Manager selling Italian Porcellan Tile to Dealers, Architects & Designers throughout Florida.

Jason Chavez A family connection to DSP. For me, it came down to having a better connection with many of the individuals in the Nu Phi Chapter. Our social activities. I think probably from the formal dance which was so much fun... and it wasn't because of my dance moves!! Camaraderie/ friendships/ contacts. I see the members of DSP to be a group of smart & motivated people who are on the road to success Now that I am actually in "the next stage of life", I apply lessons learned with DSP quite frequently. Within my profession and also as a member of a private club, the experience and perspective in making contributions & compromises to reach common goals continues to be very helpful. I have very few critiques of DSP & Nu Phi while I was there. For me it was very beneficial.

Meet Evka‘Adams’ Turpin Two weeks ago I was a networking function. I was talking with a few young professionals and college came up. Along with college came organizations we belonged to. One of the business associates I was chatting with said DSP. It was so fun to be able to connect with a stranger about something we both had in common. Best part about it that person is no longer a stranger but someone I will do business with. FIVE YEARS after graduating DSP is still working in my life.

Evka‘Adams’ Turpin The networking opportunities and to get myself ready for the business world. My best memory of DSP was going to LEAD in Albuquerque, meeting new people, attending a conference and learning how broad DSP really is. Being an active member of the chapter taught me some very important leadership skills, like prioritizing my time and working will all sorts of different people. I am sure something that I learned from DSP will come in handy in all the stages of my life. I use the peoples skills, leadership skills, time management skill daily. I wish that everyone in the chapter had been as devoted as I was. The networking with local companies could have been better.

Meet Natacha Mohamed I currently work at CIGNA Healthcare with a reference from Laura (Williams) Tapparo and now Carrie Furusho works here too!

Natacha Mohamed DSP really had what I was looking for, I knew a couple brothers and immediately felt welcome and part of a group with the same interests. Definitely retreats! Lifelong friendships. I meet with several brothers on a regular basis and some are my best friends now! Through DSP, I was able to get acquainted and form relationships with brothers, which later in life helped me find my current job. It allowed us to keep in touch and we are all very close now. Not sure how we would have done this as it seems to be a problem every year, but somehow we needed motivators to encourage participation in events which in turn I though would have helped new enrollment each semester.

Meet Alison Manibusan I joined DSP in my senior year and have moved away from Colorado after I graduated.

Allison Manibusan At the time, I thought it would be fun to be a founding father of a new organization at UNC. It gave me an opportunity to meet new people and work toward a common goal. I was able to meet new DSP members at my graduate school in Oregon. It was great to know that I didn't have to start graduate school alone. I already had a friend there :0) I learned my first interviewing skills at DSP. Also, I made lifelong friends that I still keep in touch with. It's great when you are looking for a job. I keep in touch with a few of my fellow brothers to see if their employers have opportunities that I may be interested in. It's always nice to know that there are other people out there willing to help you out. In college, I would have liked to have had more career skill activities (e.g. CV workshops, interviewing skills, etc.) and more interaction with business people.

Meet Laura Tapparo

Laura Tapparo I was looking for a great way to get involved and meet people, as well as gain knowledge outside of the classroom setting. Retreats were always something that I would look forward to each and every semester. I made some of my closest friends through DSP. My HUSBAND! My husband and I met through DSP. We were great friends for many years before getting into a serious relationship. The rest is history! I use the leadership experience and time management in my job currently. Nothing – it was a great way to spend 4 years of my college career. I loved every minute of it.

Meet Conor Noon Editor of medical transcripts at the CU Med Center.

Conor Noon I saw opportunities to help the community such as special Olympics basketball. My DSP moment would be regional conference in the fall of 1996 because the collegiate members were recognized for establishing the Nu Phi chapter. I gained a network of brothers in the Denver alumni chapter who continue to give back to the community such as socks which is for homeless kids in Denver.

Meet John Hess I am currently the Director of Game Entertainment and Operations for the Rapid City Rush professional hockey team. I have worked for them two years after working for the World Series of Poker in marketing and PR immediately after graduating. I hope to work for an NHL team and maybe some day get the opportunity to run entertainment for my favorite Colorado Avalanche. Without Delta Sigma Pi, I wouldn't have been able to get where I am today.

John Hess Friends were in it and a friend took me to the meet the chapter. I didnt feel AKPsi was the same thing, I thought it was more of a club than DSP. Retreats and initiation! Social bonding time with the brothers. Centennial Grand Chapter Congress. Friends for life. The majority of people I still talk to outside of college are DSP friends. They are the people I can still count on to this day. If there was a chapter in my area I'd stay involved. What DSP taught me with the leadership positions helped shape my business ethics and morals and helped me get to where I am today. I am not sure if there is anything I would change. I just wish it would have grown even more from the point we left it.

Meet Ashley ‘Cole’ Newbill I have been a member since the spring of 2001. I regret that I can't be there tonight I graduated with a degree in Marketing in Dec 2004. It really doesn't seem like it was that long ago! I got a job with Enterprise Rent a Car upon graduation and have been with them ever since. I am currently in our Insurance Sales & Marketing Department as an Account Supervisor and I love it. I got married last summer and live in Littleton.

Ashley Cole The main reason I came to Delta Sig was that I wanted to be involved on campus. I can't think of a bad memory of my years with Delta Sig. My best memory was going to the LEAD conference that year it was held in New Orleans I met amazing people in Delta Sigma Pi, people I could laugh with, call when I needed something or just to hang out. I developed skills that I have taken with me into my current career. Delta Sig was great for networking. I also discovered new things about myself. I really wouldn't have changed anything. It seemed like every year we were coming up with new ideas to out-do what we had done in the past.

Meet Minette Barber Graduated UNC in 2004 Currently Assistant Manager with Kohl’s

Minette Barber When I went to the meet the chapter meeting, I met Natalie, who took the time to talk to me and get to know me and encourage me to join. When I was SVP and we recruited over 40 pledges that semester! Valuable leadership skills and self-confidence (I was very shy before I joined DSP and was more of a follower than a leader) I am a manager now and use the leadership skills that I gained from DSP in my everyday job. Everyone having the same passion I did about actively participating in this great organization rather than sitting by and watching

Meet Holly Schroeder I am sorry I am unable to attend tonight. After Graduating from UNC I joined the Denver Alumni Chapter and continued my involvement. Since then though I have moved back to the forgotten city of Grand Junction CO and am working at the local Sam’s Club as their only Marketer and Sales rep. Basically I market to the entire western slope and eastern Utah. All while planning an up coming wedding. I hope you enjoyed the PowerPoint it was the quickest way to hear from Brothers like me.

Holly Schroeder I was originally really involved with the Performing Visual Arts School but had a Business Major DSP was my ticket to meet people that I would actually be attending class with Being Centennial Chair I got to plan a statewide formal where 200 brothers and their families got to connect! The ability to face any challenge and not be afraid to speak my mind. And the WONDERFUL friendships that were created along the way As I move on to the next stage of my life I plan to continue to utilize my DSP network and to find new ways to become involved as an active alumni. The ruts…. We always seemed to try the same things over and over vs pushing the boundaries of our box and thinking outside of it
