What is MPA? You may be wondering, "What is the Music Parents Association?" In a word "You!" And a lot of like-minded supporters like you who want to see our kids get the best experience they can from being involved in the Music programs offered at DHS. We are parents of students participating in band, color guard, choir, and orchestra at STEM, Downingtown East, and West High Schools
M.P.A. is also ? A Business – Incorporated in PA • It Generates Revenue • Concessions • Fundraising • It has Expenses • Program Support ( 10 Programs between East, West, STEM) • Operating Expenses • Concessions • Insurances • It Has a Board • All Volunteers • Non profit 501(c) 3 ( tax deductible )
What does this business do? M.P.A Provides what DASD doesn’t • Financial support to each program • Tuxes, Gowns, Cummerbunds • Instruments • Equipment • Equipment Repairs • Supplemental staffing (Instructors) • Senior Awards • Choir Uniform – Cleaning • Trip Funding for the financially in need • Pays for Master classes
How does it generate Revenue? • Concession stands – Largest • 2013/14 • Continue or hosting of Mini/ Annual Events • Last year: • Cougar Cabaret for East Choir • Guard Beef and Beer for the Winter Guard • Drumline Beef and Beer for the Indoor Drumline • Raffle for all and MPA • Drumline hosted a competition at West for the Indoor DL • Hosted Downingtown Classic – Drum and Bugle Corp competition • Not Student fundraisers • Separate entity

Who gets what and how? • Budgets are based on last year’s cash earned. • We have $36,000 earned from 12/13 • That is the money we use for 13/14 • What is earned in 13/14 will be used for 14/15 • This year we have extra cash • Distribute to each program by headcounts
What if we don’t reach budgeted revenue? • Reduce Funding to programs • Impacts directors • Impacts students • Impacts DASD • Our programs are known • State • Country • Impacts our Hometowns • Volunteering • Event Attendance
