Classroom Community • Our classroom is a community. Teachers and Parents as a Team Parent involvement is key to each student’s learning, success and enjoyment. We welcome parent support and participation in learning. Agenda • Students are responsible for bringing their agenda, purple folder, and binder to every class each day • Students record daily class assignments and homework • Homework and test will be written in another color • We periodically check agendas. If you see your child’s agenda is not being utilized, please help us reinforce the importance of recording everyday.
Purple Folder • Purpose of the folder - Communication tool Each student carries a purple folder with them to each class • Purple folder (parent communication) • Clipboard (teacher communication) Inside each folder - • Baggie for tickets (Catching students being a MVP) • A behavior sheet for behavior/work habit mark in class • A behavior sheet for Specials is also in the purple folder– (Art, Music, and P.E.) *Please be sure to sign both behavior sheets by Monday!
Curriculum Guide/Grading Policy Please view the Rockwall ISD website for specific information in regards to the 5th grade curriculum and grading policy. We have also added a link to our WIKI for easier viewing. Highlights A. 50% of the class grade is summative grades. Make-up Work • When a student is absent from class, it is the student’s responsibility to make up work. Students will be allowed the amount of time equal to the number of days absent to complete make-up work. However, if the student is aware of an assignment/project/exam deadline, and has received the necessary instruction before the absence occurs, the assignment or exam is due upon the student’s return to school.
Late Work • Late work is defined as any assignment that is not turned in at the time and date designated by the teacher when the student is present. • Late work will be accepted the following school day with 10 points deducted. • Late Day 1: 10 points off • Late Day 2: 20points off • Late Day 3: 30points off

Flipped Classrooms • On occasion, your child will be asked to watch videos or visit websites at home as part of their instruction.
PTA Please join and support PTA by becoming a member for only $10.50 or $20.00 for family. This helps provide Pullen with our amazing programs, evening events, and many other wonderful aspects of Pullen Elementary * Also you will receive a Pullen Directory*
Pullen Outdoor Classroom Do you like to garden? Would you like to share your passion for the outdoors with Pullen students? We are looking for a team of parents to help us maintain our outdoor classroom and put together programs to bring science to life!. Our 6th Grade Design Team Leaders are coordinating this program. Please visit their information table near the cafeteria to learn more about how you can get involved!
Sky Ranch • Wednesday Oct.9th – Friday Oct. 11th • Purpose – Outdoor Learning Environment along with hands-on activities • Cost $175.00 per student • Chaperones – Payment for chaperones will need to be made by September 30th. • Packets will be going home tomorrow (9/6/13) • Questions • http://skyranchschools.com/home/outdoor-education/
Miscellaneous • Tutoring – Begins the week of Oct. 14th * More details in October • Library- Monday • Computer/Ipads– scheduled as needed • Parties-Winter party, End of the year • Birthday Celebrations - “Here is a quick reminder regarding birthday cupcakes/snacks. If you bring cupcakes or any snack/treat for your child’s class for his/her birthday, it must be dropped off in the front office. Please contact the teacher to let him/her know when you are bringing the cupcake/snack so they are prepared. We will be sure the cupcake/snacks are delivered to the classroom for students to eat at the end of the day. Please be sure all cupcake/snacks are pre-packaged with a readable ingredients list as per the Rockwall Food and Severe Allergy Management Plan. We cannot provide the cupcake/snacks to the students without the list. Thank you for your cooperation and help in keeping our Most Valuable Panther students healthy and safe!”
Miscellaneous • Prime Time – academic time for enrichment and additional instruction • Cafeteria Procedures – It is always a treat for a parent to come eat with their child. Therefore, Pullen has designated a special table up on the stage for you and your child to share your time together. • Textbooks • Dress Code • Panther Packet – please return by tomorrow
