  2. ACADEMIC OPTIONS Every street address in the city of Chicago is assigned one attendance area or “Neighborhood” High School.

  3. Your child can attend your designated neighborhood school without having to submit an application. (Senn or Sullivan) To find your neighborhood school, visit the CPS School Locator at www.cps.edu. 8th grade students have received a letter of Eligibility that indicates what High Schools they can apply to. For any other school in the Chicago Public Schools system, you will have to submit an application if you want your child to be considered for enrollment and if they qualify.

  4. If your child is eligible for Selective Enrollment Schools the Office of Access and Enrollment will schedule your child’s test(s) and notify you of the date(s) and time(s) via U.S. mail. If you have not received your letter of test notification by January 31, 2015, contact the Office of Access and Enrollment at 553-2060

  5. Tiers used for High School Selection Every Chicago address falls within a Census Tract. 5 socio-economics characteristics are used to determine the score that each student will receive: (1)Median family income, (2) % of single family homes (3) % of homes where English is no the first language (4) % of homes occupied by the owner (5) level of adult education The scores are ranked and divided into 4 groups or “tiers”

Web Address for High School Applications • http://www.cpsoae.org/ • Click on • Click on “Apply online” • Click on “Step One” in order to create an account using the PIN number from the eligibility letter • After your account is created, you may begin the application process for all high schools that you are eligible for

  7. Test Dates • Test dates are scheduled for the following Saturdays: • October 25 • November 22 • December 13, 2014 • January 10 & 24, 2015 • Students must sign up for a test date at www.apply.cps.edu.

Proxy Consent Letter • If additional assistance is needed throughout the application process, we can help the student complete the appropriate forms here at school with your consent. • Giving the school consent means that we will complete all application processes for your child, and submit the application prior to the due date.
