Heart for the Harvest “A Tithe of All” Genesis 14:17-24
If you were given an unexpected gift of money, what is your first instinct? • Would you find a place to spend it? • Would you pay a debt? • Would you give a portion to the Lord’s work? • Would you save it?
I. There is a Deliberate Battle from without for all our goods:(vs.11,12) A. The Battle over governments: B. The Intrusion of governments into private lives: C. The “kidnapping” of people and resources from the private sector:
II. There is a Defense against the enemy: (vs.13-15) A. Defend by a readiness for warfare: (vs.14) B. Defend by a strategy for battle: (vs.15) C. Defend by a focus on people: (vs.16)
III.There is a Designation of Christ as Your Highest Authority: (vs.18-20) Melchizedek – a type of Christ; a King/Priest Hebrews 7:3-10 without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, Psalm 110:4 "You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek."
III.There is a Designation of Christ as Your Highest Authority: (vs.18-20) A. Abram submits to the authority of the King/Priest: (vs.18a) B. Abram submits to the Most High God C. Abram receives a blessing for his heart direction: (vs.19) D . Abram in response blesses the Most High God: E. Abram recognizes his deliverance is from God Most High: (vs.20)
