ROMA-NeT - use of URBACT method URBACT method with LSG and LAP have been very successful for ROMA-NeT- in terms of creating a local Governance structure – breakthrough in some cities Trans-national learning & process of key stakeholders creating a local action plan were vital for ROMA-NeT – an important process leading to a shared local plan Focus on practical outcomes at city and programme level – LAPs & series of Roma-NeT good practice guides FAST-TRACK identity has helped to engage European Commission across DGs – important cross-cutting Input from strong partnership team between the Lead Partner and Lead Expert – distinctive URBACT feature
THE CHANGING CONTEXT • EU 2020 targets – 75% employment rate; reduction of school drop outs to 10%; 40% (30-34) 3rd level education • Cohesion Funds – stronger urban focus – minimum 5% on integrated sustainable urban development • Promotion of Community Led Local Development (CLLD) • 2010 EC Regulation on ERDF use for housing marginalised communities – integrated improvement programmes • Recognition on social innovation – ERDF and ESF - new ways to address chronic social problems
