  1. Planned RMI activities during CDOP-2 By: AlirioArboleda Nicolas Ghilain Francoise Meulenberghs

  2. MET/DMET products status at the end of CDOP-1 MET (instantaneous) and DMET (daily) Evapotranspiration (ET) products over the MSG disk in operational status Products validated in different climatic environmental conditions(VR and Ghilain et all, 2011) Ever-growing number of users Good product generation statistics MSG derived forcing: short and long-wave radiation surface albedo

  3. Activities during CDOP-2 • Responsible of the following WP: • WP-1310 Algorithm Maintenance • WP-1320 Validation and Verification • WP-1330 ET / Heat Fluxes Algorithm Design • WP-1340 Co-processing of Climate Data Records • Participation to : • 5) WP-1030 : LST & EM – Algorithm Design(All weather LST)

  4. WP-1310 Algorithm Maintenance • Provide new code versions (foreseen one this year, another in 2013) and documents (PUM and VR ) as soon as the code is implemented in the operations chain. • Participation to different operational reviews (OR)

  5. WP-1310 Code update V4.0.3 => V4.1.0 (including LSASAF LAI & FVC) Static Fields Daily Fields LSA-SAF LAI ECOCLIMAP-I land cover LSA-SAF FVC Preprocessing algorithm LSA-SAF SC2 LAI Climatology LSA-SAF EMMAPS Daily vegetation database MET algorithm

  6. WP-1320 Validation and Verification • More recent (2008/2010) validation data sets have been obtained. This data will be used for continuous validation of the MET/DMET algorithms manly in dry areas (results will be included on next version of VR). • Validation against models will be pursued. • METREF validation will be carried out in collaboration with IM team.

  7. WP-1330 ET/Heat Fluxes Algorithm Design • LE/H and G fluxes produced by MET algorithm including micro-wave derived soil moisture information will be validated against observations. On these bases, algorithms will be updated or new ones will be developed. • Update MET algorithm for MTG (second half of CDOP-2) • METREF code will be implemented in the operations chain in collaboration with IM.

  8. WP-1330 ET/Heat Fluxes Algorithm Design HTESSEL(ECMWF) /SM-DAS-2 at Tojal HTESSEL(ECMWF)/SM-DAS-2 at Tchizalamou (2010-2012/05)

  9. Participation to WP-1030 : (All- weather LST) • Jointly with IM analyse the feasibility of different methodologies to generate an all-weather LST • More targeted comparaisons between LST and modelled Tskin starting in 2013.

  10. Participation to WP-1030 : (All- weather LST) LSASAF LST vs. LSASAF MET Tskin for 4 locations: Puéchabon, Tojal, Humain and Las Majadas del Tietar in 2007.

  11. Contribution to FA with CM-SAF • WP • The processing climatic data records will be performed in collaboration with RetoStöckli from MeteoSwiss
