Set up and was Head of the Yorkshire School of Psychiatry, responsible for training psychiatrists in Yorkshire. This has given me good links with local psychiatrists. • Am now Dean of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, responsible for national standard setting of Psychiatric training. Previous Projects with the SHA • Reduction of antipsychotic prescribing for people with dementia • Increase in number of patients in Acute Trust in Leeds who were screened for dementia • Development of a dementia friendly ward in Leeds Acute Trust • Making Otley a dementia friendly town
Possible priorities for the network • Increase the percentage of people with dementia who have a formal diagnosis • Understand the reasons for the variation in diagnosis rate across Yorkshire • Meet the Prime Minister’s Challenge of 66% by 2015
