  1. 100/100 Principle

  2. Ephesians 5:22-24 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

  3. The World’s Great Lie • How often have we heard that marriage is a 50/50 proposition? • Is this a Biblical concept?

  4. 100/100 Principle • Actually, it is not. The Bible, rather, teaches a very different principle when it comes to marriage. • In short, it is the 100/100 principle! • Marriage is just one example of the 100/100 Principle!

  5. From Ephesians: 100/100 • Marriage • Children and Fathers • Employees and Employers (Bondservants and Masters)

  7. Ephesians 5:25-28 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.

  8. From Ephesians: 100/100 • Marriage • Children and Fathers • Employees and Employers (Bondservants and Masters)

  9. Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise:3 “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”4And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

  10. Ephesians 6:4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

  11. Children and Fathers Children: Obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Fathers: Do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

  12. From Ephesians: 100/100 • Marriage • Children and Fathers • Employees and Employers (Bondservants and Masters)

  13. Ephesians 6:5-8 Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ;6 not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, 7 with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, 8 knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.

  14. Ephesians 6:9 9And you, masters, do the same things to them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.

  15. Employees and Employers Bondservants: Be obedient to those who are your masters…as to Christ. Masters: Do the same things to them…knowing that your own Master also is in heaven.

  16. 100/100 Principle • Notice, both parties are given the responsibility for maintaining the relationship. • Think about this for a moment – this is a concept unique to Christianity!

  17. Christian Conflict • The words of Jesus teach the same concept when it comes to conflict between Christians. Matthew 5:23-24 Matthew 18:15 {

  18. Matthew 5:23-24 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

  19. Biblical Plan for Reconciliation OFFENDER OFFENDED A B Responsibility is placed upon the OFFENDER.

  20. Matthew 18:15 Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.

  21. Biblical Plan for Reconciliation OFFENDER OFFENDED A B Responsibility is placed upon the OFFENDER. Responsibility is placed upon the OFFENDED.

  22. 100/100 Principle in the Church • If there is a conflict in the Church, it is our 100% our responsibility to attempt to fix the problem – whether we are at fault or not! How many unnecessary problems in the Church could be avoided if we just follow this principle?

  23. 100/100 Principle in Salvation • According to the writings of the Apostle Paul, all Christians are responsible for their own salvation as well as the salvation of others!

  24. 2 Corinthians 5:9-10 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

  25. 1 Corinthians 8:12-13 But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. 13 Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.

  26. 100/100 Principle in Salvation • We are taught to cease any activity that might cause a weaker Christian to sin – even if the activity is not wrong!! • This is the embodiment of the 100/100 Principle – we all assume 100% responsibility for the salvation of others.

  27. Mark 12:29-31 Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’Thisis the first commandment.31And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’There is no other commandment greater than these.”

  28. Jesus Christ: 100/100 Principle • There is no greater example of the 100/100 Principle than our Savior Jesus Christ. • He gave 100% and expects nothing less of His followers.

  29. Philippians 2:5-8 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

  30. Matthew 16:25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

  31. Do we live the 100/100 Principle? • We know God has given 100%. Do we give 100% to God? • Have we “put to death” the deeds of the body? (Romans 8:13) • Sadly, many people are living Godless lives but are expecting something in return from Him.

  32. 100/100 Principle • Notice, both parties are given the responsibility for maintaining the relationship. • Think about this for a moment – this is a concept unique to Christianity! • The 100/100 Principle is based upon the Christian virtues of GRACE, PEACE and MERCY!

  33. Conclusion • Do you want to change your life for the better? • Apply the 100/100 Principle to: • Marriage • Parenthood • Employment • Conflict in the Church • Relationships with other Christians • Relationship with God
