Not only does it provide a more convenient way for parents to register their children for Little League, but it also provides League Administrators with a way to effectively organize player data, coordinate teams, and upload required information to Little League International. Plus, communication from season to season is simple.

  14. Online registrations (cont)   1. Optimize Registration Options • Review the methods of registration you offer and complement them with an online registration option. Over time, you may determine that you can eliminate some of the in person registration activities. • List online registration first when offering multiple registration methods. • Highlight online registration on all handouts and signage as the preferred method of registration.

  15. Online registrations (cont)  2. Utilize Your League Website • Provide parents with easy access to your customized registration form that can be completed online. • Allow new parents to easily find your league using a customized boundary map available through www.eteamz.com. Setup your league boundary maps and automatically be listed in the official Little League “League Finder” Directory launching this fall. • Utilize your website to post schedules, rosters, scores, and announcements along with photos to stay connected with coaches, players, parents and volunteers throughout the Season.

  16. Online registrations (cont)  3. Setup Website Navigation • Include prominent online registration links in your main navigation menus—the fewer clicks to get to the registration page, the better. • Place a “Register Online” website button or message on your home page and other popular pages to easily link visitors to your customized online registration page.

  17. Online registrations (cont)  4. Collect Email Addresses • Easily collect email addresses during the registration process so you can send timely emails announcing updates throughout the season and for registration the following year. • Include links within your email directing participants to your online registration information. • Segment your email list to send targeted emails to parents or volunteers. Target emails to parents of players by potential division.

  18. Online registrations (cont)  5. Announce Your League’s Online Registration • Send an exciting announcement to your coaches, parents and players to build enthusiasm around using your new registration option to save time. • Promote online registration by placing your website address in all printed materials, e-newsletters, posters, flyers, email communications, etc. • Plan a pre-season email campaign to increase communication with your players, parents and volunteers about upcoming registration dates and deadlines. Encourage your recipients to forward the email on to friends and family to spread the word about your league. • Place an announcement in your local community newspaper’s event section: e.g., “Registration for _______ Little League will end on ________. Visit website ______ to register today.”

  19. Online registrations (cont) 6. Provide an Incentive • Allow your players to register earlier in the season with online registration. This will help prevent staff and volunteers from becoming overwhelmed once the walk-in registration period begins. • Consider offering discounts for early online registration or charging a small processing fee for manual paper registrations. Offering online registration discounts encourages early adoption and more timely registration behavior season-over-season.

  20. Online registrations (cont) 7. Transition to 100% Online • Get all your players to register online and eventually decrease the number of in-person registrations offered. Arrange one in-person meeting prior to the season to verify all necessary documents. Track verification of documents received through online registration software. • Decrease the time spent entering data and allow volunteers to focus on more important responsibilities. 8. Start Planning For Next Season • Email a short survey to parents asking whether they found online registration convenient and easy to use. • Easily track your leagues total registration for the season and set goals for the upcoming season. • Review ideas with your board for improving the registration process for next season.
