Pansophy System of Universal Knowledge Team Carpe Diem Team Leader Apaksh Gupta Challenge My Dream Job
Reality Check It is time that we put to test our dream vision for 2022. Education plays a highly significant role in determining the success of our vision. To understand the realities, we need to find the governing aspects in current scenario that have the potential to create an adequate thrust towards creating a sustainable future. What is Education? Wikipedia states, ‘Education in its general sense is a form of learning in which knowledge, skills, and habits of a group of people are transferred from one generation to the next through teaching, training, research, or simply through auto didacticism. Also, it occurs through any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts.’ Education is perceived by most communities and systems as learning one of the aspects defined above whereas in reality education is through giving equal emphasis on all aspects from knowledge through research and habits through training. What is the purpose of Education? The purpose of education is to strength the capacities of individuals, especially children, to act progressively on their own behalf through attainment of relevant knowledge, skills and appropriate attitudes, and which creates for them, and helps them create for themselves and others, places of safety, security and healthy interaction. Simply put, to make the world a better place for ourselves and others surrounding us. Are we really fulfilling its purpose? To find the answer I identified the following key driving factors that govern the way the current generation should be educated.
A Radical Solution All these factors play a complex interrelated role in defining the key competencies, learning methodology ,and skills of various categories, such as hard skills, soft skills, and multi tasking skills desired for building a successful career. In India, after carrying out thorough research, I found out that the research work carried out by young students is a meager compared to what their counterparts at foreign universities were doing. This is one major aspect where Indian students lack at a global competency level and that needs immediate attention. The Vice Chancellor of Delhi University, one of India’s most reputed university, recently discussed in an interview the key areas where our system needs to work. She mentions that our system offers a low degree of flexibility to students for pursuing their interests and we need to stress on the importance of learning through research. Therefore, I came up with a solution to this ever growing problem. I proposed that a not-for-profit organization be formed that on one side is collaborated to the top universities in the world and on the other side connects to the millions of young students in India. The students will be able to pursue their research interests under the professor of the concerned field subject to various conditions. Firstly the student will be evaluated by means of an algorithm on a number of factors such as interest in the field, previous experience, extracurricular involvement, academic records and motivation to pursue the concerned research. This way we will be able to match like minded individuals at a global level. Also the rigor of dedication will allow to matchthe intensity of research he will be allocated.
Expert Feedback Studentswill be drawn to carry out work as they not only form a global network of peers but are also recognized by a consortium of universities which opens up number of future avenues for them. With the growing amounts of foreign investments being poured into India by multi nationals, there is a higher than ever scope for various diverse researches to be carried out. MNC’s are also pouring in lump sum amounts in their Research & Development department and a number of individuals can make effective utility of this opportunityby working in an environment of collateral growth and profit. I put forward myidea to a number of accomplished people, who could provide me with an in depth review. Mr. William Bossert, Professor at Harvard University, highly applauded the efforts and mentions that this could be a breakthrough idea to the problem that has plagued India for centauries. I also discussed this idea with Mr. RajinderKaura, M.D. of a leading technology solutions enterprise, and he highly liked the proposal. He is also helping us to shape this ideaintoreality by providing us various resources. He mentions that only a select few universities in India, such as Indian Institute of Technology, are providing its students with research opportunities and millions of others nevergeta chance. This platform can help eradicate this problem and will improve the quality of education by exponential factors. We believe that by following this model the students in India will be well equipped with the required skillset to compete with the best pool of candidates studying at the top rated universities, such as Harvard, Stanford, M.I.T. ISB, IESE Spain, University of British Columbia, etc.
