  5. Effects of parenthood that can exacerbate mental illness • Bodily stresses • Sleep schedule changes • Heightened emotional states • Financial stresses

  6. Effects on child • Hereditary • Parented by mentally ill • Abuse • Neglect • Appropriate behavior

  7. Effects on society • Jail • 70% children in juvenile justice system • 66% adults in local jail • 50% adults in federal & state prison • Homeless (31%) • Illegal self medication • Disability
