  2. Create new presentation Add slide View show Change how to view your slides Delete slide Format background Add pictures Add custom animation Add slide transitions What Will We Learn Today? TechTuesdays

  3. Creating a New Presentation • Go to Start>Programs>Microsoft Office>Microsoft PowerPoint • At gray window, click on Blank Presentation and click OK TechTuesdays

  4. Adding a Slide • You should have the New Slide window on your computer. • Scroll down and see the many types of slides you can use. • Automatically begins with the Title Slide (see name in bottom left of window) • Click OK TechTuesdays

  5. Adding a Slide • On your title slide, type “All about ____” • Put your name in the blank • Click in the subtitle box and type today’s date • Hit CTRL and M to create a new slide • Click on the slide on far left of the third row (called Text and Clip Art) TechTuesdays

  6. Adding a Slide • Your slide should look like this one • Click on the text box to your left • Type three things you do in your job (hit ENTER after each) • Hit CTRL and M TechTuesdays

  7. Adding a Slide • Click on the second slide from the left on the top row (bulleted list) • Looks like this slide • Title: My Family • Click to Add Text: type 3 things about your family (short) • Hit CTRL M and OK (doesn’t matter which slide you choose) TechTuesdays

  8. View Your Slide Show • Go to Slide Show>View Show • Click your mouse, click the right arrow, or hit the spacebar to move through your show • Cool, but boring, right?? TechTuesdays

  9. Ways to Look at Your Slides • Just above START – 5 icons • First on left = Slide view (only the slide, allows you to edit) • Outline view (just text) • Slide Sorter view (all slides on one screen) • Notes Page view (to add lecture notes) • Slide Show view (the real show) TechTuesdays

  10. Delete a Slide • Click on the 3rd icon above START (slide sorter) • Click on slide 4 (black square around it) • Hit backspace • Voila! That extra slide has disappeared! TechTuesdays

  11. Add a Picture • Double-click on Slide 2 (should now be in Slide View) • Double-click where it says “Double-click to add Clip Art” • Click on a picture (if you get a gray window, keep hitting OK lots of times) and hit Insert TechTuesdays

  12. Setting the Background • Go to Format>Apply Design • Click on several of the files in the left window to see different design templates • Hit Apply when you find one you like TechTuesdays

  13. Custom Animation • Hit PAGE UP so that you see your title page • Go to Slide Show>Custom Animation • In Timing, click on Title 1 • In Effects, change the animation and sound • Hit Preview to see how the animation will work, then hit OK TechTuesdays

  14. Slide Transition • Go to Slide Show>Slide Transition • Under Effect, select a new effect • Hit Apply to All • Go to Slide Show>View Show • Use your space bar, right arrow, or mouse to move through the slide show! TechTuesdays
