Memorization How the heck do I remember everything?!
To what does my brain respond? • Law of Recency • What did you eat yesterday? • What did you eat 21 days ago? • Law of Vividness • Spectacular Striking or Special • Birthdays, Firsts, Lasts • Law of Frequency • Remember things that happen most often
Repetition • Moves the information from your short term to your long term memory. • Say one add one • Chunking
Mnemonics • Use the first Letter of a word or line to create a word, phrase, or sentence. • A rat in the house may eat the ice cream. Spells: arithmetic
Roman Room • Ancient Romans used this technique to memorize two hour speeches! • Roam around a piece of furniture, a room, the entire house.
Association • Attach a picture to your information • Attach pieces of information to pieces of the picture remember the the cell structure and function of the organelles by relating them to a factory (the cell body would be the boss who gives the orders, the ribosomes are the messengers, etc).
The Onion • Count how many layers you have included in your writing piece (not including under my shirt is my skin and under my skin is my heart) • Tear your paper into that number of strips
On each strip of paper • Write the portion of your Underneath piece that covers one layer • Each strip of paper should have the writing that discusses one layer

Build your onionfrom the inside out Deepest layer gets crumpled first Next layer covers previous layer Continue until all your layers are used to create your onion The outer layer should include the first line after under my skin is my heart
