  1. HJ philosophy: WE ARE IMPERFECTnone of us are righteous

  2. Because we understand how enormously flawed we are, it transforms and informs our worldview. We come to know others, the culture and the arts more profoundly with increasing compassion and passion!

  3. The ancient Hebrew prophet Isaiah said it best, “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags” --Isaiah 64:6 (TNIV)

  4. So all of us at HJ, David and Greg especially, are basically unrighteous messed up people. As Paul of Tarsus once wrote, “This is a trustworthy message, and worthy to be accepted fully, ‘The Anointed One Jesus came into the world to save sinners’, of whom I am the foremost sinner!” --1 Timothy 1:15 TSNT

  5. We are non-judgmental critics! The only “good thing” about any us at HJ is God’s unmerited favor toward us. Period. This makes it easy for us to be at peace with the rest of the world and NOT judge it. We are nonjudgmental critics! Besides how can any of us judge another? Jesus puts it this way: "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in someone else's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?” --Matthew 7:5 (TNIV)

  6. To be faithful to Jesus’ teaching, we cannot, nor will we, claim any moral high ground. Therefore…

  7. …we are totally free to view our culture from a “we are all in this together” point of view. We ask how does this movie, CD or book connect with us in our shared humanity and how can it help us in spiritual way.

  8. This humble non-judgmental way of participating in our culture as Jesus-followers is free of condemnation. It’s authentic and fun! Incredible Fun!

  9. Jesus loves people. When Jesus went out he saw a big crowd, and he was moved with compassion for them… --Matthew 14:14 The Source Do you have a growing compassion toward others? At HJ we are in process of just that.
