What does the Partnership Board know about the community in NEL? How much work has been done to engage with the Mosque, Gurdwara, Polish and other BAME communities? Do you know what race relations are like in North East Lincolnshire? Are you aware of how confident BAME people are to live and work in North East Lincolnshire?
Some unpalatable facts! • The consultant’s wife who never goes to Freshney Place for fear of being shouted at and threatened • Hate Crime increasing in NEL • Visiting Polish teachers being racially abused and threatened • A female Muslim who was spat at walking 300 metres to an Interfaith Forum meeting
A Polish male being set alight by youths, but still won’t press charges for fear of further physical abuse and harassment • The Mosque being fire bombed and vandalised • Does this explain why the BAME members of the hospital community don’t venture out? • What impact does this have on the local economy? • How many of the Senior Executives of large organisations in NEL live in the local community?
